The wait has finally paid off, with Blizzard revealing an awesome, anime-style, animated trailer for the character, adding him to the PTR at the same time.
Firstly, Doomfist is an offence hero and not a tank, as many expected he would be. Secondly, his primary fire is a close-hand canon (literally shotguns embedded in his hand), meaning his gauntlet is not is primary form of attack.
Both of these are contrary to what people expected, but Doomfist's list of unique abilities are much more inline with what was initially expected for the character.
Rising Uppercut launches booth Doomfist and the enemy into the air, allowing him to launch Seismic Slam while airborne.
Rocket Punch is Doomfist's alt-fire. This attack charges up, dealing more damage the longer the fire button is held. The move knocks enemies back and deals maximum damage when they're knocked into a wall.
His passive ability, the Best Defense, allows him to build shields every time he deals damage. Doomfist can build up to 200hp in shields (400hp in total) using this passive.
Lastly, Doomfist's Ultimate, Meteor Strike, has him leaping into the sky, giving him invulnerability, before crashing into the ground and dealing damage based on the proximity of enemies to his landing zone.
Doomfist's primary fire seems rather underwhelming, with clip size, fire rate, and relative damage being on the low side. His lack of retreat abilities also means he could be overwhelmed by groups of enemies.
Overall, Doomfist looks to set to live up to the hype. His playstyle is entirely unique, and his design reeks of power. I can't wait for him to make his way to the main game, so I myself can get to grips with the brawler.
