From an Office Dream to Reality
Have you ever sat behind a desk at work and wished you were doing something else?—perhaps something more interesting, or mentally engaging, or just drama free? Charlie, the amazing lady behind Kulcha Kollektive, was doing exactly that five years ago.
She spent her days in an office doing graphic design, technical drawing, and various jobs of that nature, but she wanted to get out and do something. Taking her love for sci-fi and fantasy, and the enjoyment of working with her hands, she decided to follow her passion and search for her market niche in the community.
Kulcha Kollektive, while still small and bound to face many struggles, was born.
"I started asking around among friends and found that they had a lot of 'junk' and obsolete technology that would end up in the dumps. I'm a minimalist, and I think that we live in a terribly disposable culture—we all own too much and the landfills are a problem, so why not recycle instead!"
The Future Kollektive
"Another idea behind starting the company was eventual job creation and skills development— something desperately needed in this country."
While not set in stone yet, it's Charlie's end-game to create employment and teach others who want to work and learn. Kulcha Kollektive creates not just skull art, they also do silk screening and murals so there are several skill sets she could teach others.
"Thank you to all the loyal customers who've supported and kept me motivated over the last 5 years. I wouldn't be where I am today without them!"

She can also be found at several conventions and markets throughout the year. If you can't make it to one of these, feel free to stop by her online shop and take a peek. There is a great variety and everything is hand-made.

If there's one thing I am confident in bragging about to others (even those outside of this country) it's that the community here is absolutely amazing! I've seen it with everyone from cosplayers to merchants to event planners. I have witnessed you all pulling together to help one another not just with stalls but with advice and everything from card machines to stock. Your determination, creativity, intelligence, kindness, and good humor is inspiring and I am so proud to have the privilege to be a part of this community. Thank you! <3
