rAge Cape Town Cancelled
Michael James, who owns and coordinates the expo released a press statement in order to elaborate on the cancellation of the event. In the statement James mentions that the enthusiasm for such events is at the right level, however the "financial and logistic" aspects of hosting this event are what ultimately led to the cancelation.
James also reassures us that the gamer culture in Cape Town is still very much vibrant, since there are other similar events in the city. It is still worrying to know South Africa struggles to host more than one large expo of this sort, which in turn hurts local E-sports players and Devs, since they're losing a huge chunk potential new fans and players.
The industry is still growing at quite a pace, with Mettlestate and Telkom Masters, both hosting R1 000 000 tournaments within the year so I'll think positively and say this isn't the last we'll see of rAge Cape Town.
Another Big Injustice Trailer
Netherrealm and Injustice 2 have really been operating in overdrive over the last few months. We've had release after release for characters, story trailers, mobile games, and a whole hosts of leaks which are confirmed official, one after the other.
The latest Injustice 2 trailer called "Shattered Alliances: Part 2" sheds a little more light on the story, while confirming the inclusion of several rumored charcters.
In the trailer we see Green Arrow, The Flash and Reverse Flash (his premier skin), Green Lantern, as well as a very brief glimpse of a character who is most likely Captain Cold. All of these characters had been rumored or leaked up to this point so we can take it that leaks are fairly trustworthy at this point. Other leaked characters include; Starfire, Beast Boy, Firestorm, The Joker, Red Hood, and Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat. Injustice 2 is set to release on the 16th May 2017 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Dark Souls 3 DLC Screenshots Released
Bandai Namco have broken their silence surrounding Dark Souls 3's DLC, The Ringed City, and released a set of screenshots and concept artworks to keep fans somewhat satisfied until the game's relsease on 20th March 2017.
The images include the egg-bearing woman who was emphasized in the reveal trailer, combat with the fly enemies from the previous DLC, A potential new boss in the form of a dragon covered in black crystals, and a few previously unseen NPCs and locations.
The Ringed City is potentially the last piece of Dark Souls content, ever. Hopefully the beloved series receives a worthy send off. The DLC will be getting a review here on LoG soon after its release, so be on the lookout.
First Shadow of War Gameplay Footage
After its announcement last week, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War has received its first gameplay trailer.
The trailer highlights the new and more expansive nemesis system during one of the castle sieges you will initiate during the game. Unique enemies and hierarchies are generated for each stronghold, however more unique varieties of both enemies and allies, as well as more detailed interpersonal relationships are available in game. We see that different units will serve different roles during combat, and that certain important enemies will have personal links to Talion and his army, which affects the way these enemies react to your sieges.
Mass Effect: Andromeda Gets New Gameplay, Heavy On Player Choice
Miranda Sanchez of IGN does a great job of explaining how player choice has been improved throughout the game. Dialogue choices will now be morally complex as opposed to the good, bad, neutral approach previous titles have taken. Her article makes for an excellent read and can be viewed here : http://za.ign.com/mass-effect-andromeda/105058/news/mass-effect-andromeda-offers-awesome-player-freedom. All-in-all the game looks set to improve upon the ground-breaking aspects which made the series so iconic, while offering more choice in terms of customization and mission approach. The game is set to release on March 23rd for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
