New Sony Handheld in The Works
There is a possibility, given the period the patent was originally filled in that this console may be a less ambitious, direct successor to the Vita, which isn't necessarily a bad thing given that we are yet to see whether hybrid consoles are worthwhile or just another passing fad like motion control. The speculation until we get some solid answers will undoubtedly be tons of fun but in the mean time, this is definitely something to keep an eye on.
Blizzard Throw A Curveball
Many Overwatch fans assumed that Doomfist, a character anticipated since the release of the game, would be the 24th character to join the roster. Recent updates to the PTR seemed to be hinting at Doomfist's eminent inclusion, with the glass casing on the Numbani payload, which hosts his gauntlet shattered. Recent statements from Jeff Kaplan, Blizzard's Vice President, as well as some strange activity on the official Overwatch website seem to indicate that the new hero will be someone entirely different.
Kaplan first claimed the the next hero "isn't who people are expecting" and soon after the statement, an interview with fictional 11 year-old Numbani inventor, Efi Oladele, which can be viewed here: playoverwatch.com/en-us/blog/20580087 . These two events have to be tied together, with Efi likely being the inventor of, or at least related to the next hero. This has kicked speculation among fans into overdrive as theories regarding who hero 24 could be. Given Blizzard's two most recent heroes, Ana and Sombra, the character would most likely have deep ties to the current cast, and has probably already been mentioned, in game. At present, the most popular theories are: Athena, which would make sense since she is an established character, being the AI of the game's drop ships, A yet unnamed, giant robotic spider or Doomfist himself, with some fans assuming the recent activities to be a red herring. Personally, I believe the next hero is the large, quadrupedal omnic, to the far right, in one of the first promotional images of the game, since it's both and omic and has what appear to be tribal markings, connecting it to the young inventor.
A Flood of Injustice 2 Reveals
After months of silence surrounding Injustice 2, it seems Netherealm Studios have opened the floodgates. After the back to back reveals of Swamp Thing and Cheetah, Poison Ivy and Catwoman we've received a new batch of leaks through the soft launch of the Injustice app. The app all but confirms the inclusion of Scarecrow, Green Lantern and The Flash , as well as revealing thier super moves. Cyborg was also leaked during the mobile release, but has been officially confirmed in a new story trailer which sheds light on the plot of the game as well. Brainiac and Bane have been confirmed as well, but we are yet to see any gameplay of either. Captain Cold, Joker and Doctor fate are all heavily rumored, but with slots filling up fast it will be interesting to see who makes the final cut, with Ed Boon stating that the game will be focusing on "obscure characters".
Poshybird Passes Away During Charity Stream
This is a rather tragic story. Brian "Poshybird" Vigneault (35) took part in a live charity stream for the make-a wish foundation, streaming a session of World of Tanks. Around 22 hours into the stream Vigneault stepped away from his computer for a cigarette break, left the stream running and did not return.
It was later revealed, by an officer responding to curios members of his discord channel, that he passed away during this break, from what is assumed to be a heart attack. Many believe that the marathon streams Vigneault regularly took part in, especially in the weeks leading up to his death may have played a factor. Its sad to hear someone who genuinely set out to do good passing on like this especially considering he leaves behind three children as well. We send our best wishes to his family, friends and fans.
